This year has been incredible. I have been fortunate to teach a group of students who love learning. I could not have hoped for a better class in 2008. All the best to everyone for the coming year.

Slide Share
Tui 2 is going to begin using 'Slide Share' to download their power points so that people can view their work, make comments and perhaps learn something new. This is an exciting prospect.

Happenings!!
These last couple of weeks have been really busy!!
SAMS has had its Arts Evening which was a great success and I was pleased to see a lot of Tui 2 students getting involved in this event.
We have also had speeches. Annie, you did us proud winning the Year 7 and 8 section. Congratulations also goes to Kelsey Hodge and Chevonne Taylor for gettting into the finals.
Last Wednesday we had BikeWise. This was great fun and hopefully something we will do again.
This Friday we have SAMS Athletics. I am looking forward to seeing everyone participating.

Useful Links
I will be adding links to this blog to sites that are relevant to what is happening in Tui 2 and at SAMS.
The links that are currently on this site will lead you directly to Tui 2 Caves; these contain learning activities that students can access, to SAMS Market Day photos, which are held in a site named Flickr, and to my wikispace where I have added an Animoto video which depicts life at SAMS over the last two weeks.

FIFA World Cup Hamilton
It was a privilege to be apart of the spectacle that was the Women’s U17 World Football Cup. To watch the best young women footballers in action was certainly a privilege. The video shows USA playing Japan, Japan being the eventual winners.

Alcapone Does My Shirts
So we have read the book. Now what do you think about some of the ideas that have come up during the reading? It makes me wonder what makes people famous and why would anyone think that a murderer is someone that people admire? I am interested to hear your views. What do you think prison life was like for Alcapone? The information that you are finding out about this notorious criminal is fascinating! I look forward to your comments!!!!

Our Roof Creaks!
At SAMS our roof creaks when it warms up. The question was, "why does it make that noise?" Miss Hart.
We discussed what the roof is made out of but no one had the anwser to our initial question.
I have now asked students to find out about matter and what happens to a solid object when it heats up. I am looking forward to their answers.

All classrooms are different. Here is one where there is noise, lots of enthusiasm and motivated learners.
What do you think of this class? What are the good things about this class? How would you feel being in this type of learning environment? I really like the way that the students are teaching each other. Could you be a teacher in our class?
What could we do in Tui 2 to improve our learning?

Have you thought about 'thinking'? Are there different types of thinking? Will understanding about thinking skills help you with your learning? What information can you find out about thinking?
